Acupuncture and facial rejunvenation

Do you know that acupuncture can be used for facial rejunvenation? Stimulating specific acupuncture points and topical application of special Chinese herbal facial creams can improve the appearance and make people look younger. Many people think that acupuncture is only effective in relieving pain. In fact, acupuncture is a kind of therapy that can improve the overall body. The principle of acupuncture and pain relief is to promote blood circulation. Blood circulation and blood stasis also have a significant effect on blood circulation of the whole body skin including the face. Some distal acupoints have a distant effect on facial blood circulation through the meridians, such as Li4, St36. Other acupoints improve skin metabolism by regulating the nervous and endocrine systems, such as Sp6, Kid3. The acupuncture points on the head and face can directly promote the blood supply to the adjacent skin, such as St5, St8.

In addition to regulaer needles, the dermal needle is also widely used in beauty. Ancient Chinese doctors used the "七星针 seven-stars needle" or "梅花针 plum-blossom needle" to cure dermal diseases and hair loss combined with external herbal products.

Thanks to modern high tech, the micro-needle that we are using is more efficient and exquisite. Nowadays electric auto micro-needle are more popular. The depth of curing and frequency of pounching can be controlled very precisely. The depth we take is about 0.2~0.5mm. It equals the thickness of epidermis. So, patient almost cannot feel any pain due to epidermal layer dosen's has nerver tissue. Many researchers, include dermatologists, pathologists and immunologists did lot efforts on finding the mechanics of treatment. All the results show that the cells in our skin will "talk" to other cells more by producing more cytokines and grow factors to promote healthy collagen after the needles prick into skin. These newborn collagen make facial skin taight and elastic. Meanwhile, dermal needling has an aerating effect for facial skin which can make skin absorb topical nutritions rapidly and easely. It is like lawn aerating in spring.

There are more topical products can be use after dermal needling treatment. Such as vitamins, grouth factors. But as a TCM doctor, I prefer Chinese herbal products. Huang qi facial cream is my favorite. Huang qi's academic name is Astragalus root. Modern science proved that astragalus can be used for anti-aging, as certain astragalus molecules have been found to contribute to telomere growth. According to a study published in the Journal of Immunology, substances within astragalus root (called cycloastragenols and astragalosides) can slow the aging process by activating telomerase enzyme production (responsible for telomere regeneration). The two patented forms of astragalus root extract are known as TAT2 and TA-65.
